Calvin and Hobbes Tenth Aniversary Book, The


1995. Reflection of ten years of Calvin and Hobbes. Strips in this book are all accompanied by annotations. Watterson has explained reasoning behind strips, his throughts on trends during the years, and admitted where he had made some mistakes.

Contains essays by Watterson on the following: The Comics in Transition, Licensing, Sabbaticals, The Sunday Strip, Influences, and The Process. He also gives character descriptions, including namesakes and models, for eight major characters. Scattered through the book are other short explainations of Spaceman Spiff, Calvin's Wagon, and Dinosaurs. The book ends with a page entitled "Cartooning and Calvin and Hobbes"

This book was published not long before Watterson's retirement announcement. By stating his opinions in this book for the general public to see, he was able to soften the blow of his retirement.
